Product introduction

How the Pressure Compensating (PC) Dripper is engineered, and which sub-assemblies protect the performance your customers actually buy.

A pressure compensating dripper contains a silicone diaphragm that flexes as the pressure rises. The diaphragm narrows the flow path just enough to keep the discharge constant, so the first and the last dripper on a lateral deliver the same volume.

The design originates from European drip irrigation practice. A precision inlet filter and a finely designed turbulent channel give a self-cleaning action, so the dripper suits hilly ground, long laterals and water sources carrying some solids. Anti-drain versions stop the flow when the system shuts down, which prevents back siphonage of soil.

Technical advantages

Every sub-assembly below is selected to protect the performance your customers buy.

01

Constant discharge

The diaphragm compensates automatically, keeping flow uniform regardless of pressure variation along the lateral.

02

Self-cleaning channel

A wide turbulent path plus a precision inlet filter flushes debris through the dripper during operation.

03

Anti-drain option

On anti-drain versions the flow stops at low pressure, so soil is not drawn back into the dripper when the system shuts down.

04

Colour coded

The coloured cap identifies the flow rate at a glance, which simplifies field inspection and maintenance.

05

Wide range of flows

One to eight litres per hour covers most orchard, vineyard and row crop requirements.

06

Reliable quality

Manufactured from virgin plastic with a coefficient of variation of 3 percent or better.

Key benefits

  • Constant discharge — The diaphragm compensates automatically, keeping flow uniform regardless of pressure variation along the lateral.
  • Self-cleaning channel — A wide turbulent path plus a precision inlet filter flushes debris through the dripper during operation.
  • Anti-drain option — On anti-drain versions the flow stops at low pressure, so soil is not drawn back into the dripper when the system shuts down.
  • Colour coded — The coloured cap identifies the flow rate at a glance, which simplifies field inspection and maintenance.

Built to run

Material preparation, processing and downstream handling can be integrated into one turnkey scope from a single supplier.

Process flow

Each station is matched in capacity so the machine runs at the rated output without a bottleneck.

  • Resin drying
  • Injection moulding of body and cover
  • Silicone diaphragm moulding
  • Automatic assembly and welding
  • Vision inspection of the diaphragm
  • Bulk packing
  • Insertion into the pipe or assembly to online type
  • Field installation

Applications

Typical end uses for this product, based on the applications BENK MACHINE equipment already serves worldwide.

Hilly and sloping fields

Terrain where pressure varies considerably along a lateral.

Long laterals

Blocks where friction loss would otherwise reduce flow at the far end.

Subsurface drip

Buried systems where back siphonage must be prevented.

High value crops

Orchards, vineyards, berries and vegetables where uniformity drives yield.

Options and auxiliary equipment

Configure the machine for the market you sell into. Popular additions include:

  • Colour coded caps per flow rate
  • Custom flow rates on request
  • Anti-drain and anti-siphon versions
  • Bulk or boxed packing options
  • Sample and pilot batches
  • Private label packing

Why buy from BENK MACHINE

Extrusion specialists, not traders

BENK MACHINE designs and builds extrusion and drip irrigation equipment in Zhangjiagang with an in-house R and D and process team, so machine selection is matched to your resin and product instead of a catalogue number.

Evidence before shipment

Every machine is assembled and run in our works. You receive trial video, gauge and output records, and are welcome to attend the factory acceptance test.

Total cost, not lowest price

Energy efficient drives, permanent magnet motors and optimised heating reduce kWh per tonne, which usually matters more over five years than the initial purchase price.

Real commissioning support

Our engineers install, commission, train your operators and stay involved until the machine hits the specified output and quality on your material.

Spares and response

Critical spares are stocked for fast dispatch, and the Siemens Ethernet control platform allows remote diagnosis before a service visit is needed.

Upgrades as you grow

Co-extrusion, gauge control, automation and downstream equipment can be added later, protecting your original investment.

Frequently asked questions

The questions buyers ask most often about the Pressure Compensating (PC) Dripper.

What is the flow index and why does it matter?
The flow index describes how much the discharge changes as pressure changes. A value as low as 0.04 means the dripper is almost insensitive to pressure, so flow stays constant.
What does anti-drain mean?
On anti-drain models the flow stops when the system pressure falls to between 0.01 and 0.03 MPa, which prevents soil from being drawn back into the dripper.
Can the dripper be cleaned?
Take apart versions can be opened and cleaned in the field, and the self-cleaning channel flushes debris during normal operation.
