RTP Pipe Systems
RTP pipe production, from liner to coiled composite pipe
BENK supplies modular production equipment for spoolable reinforced thermoplastic pipe. The line can combine liner extrusion, reinforcement winding, heating and activation, outer jacket extrusion, cooling, haul-off, inspection and coiling.

What is an RTP pipe?
A reinforced thermoplastic pipe is a composite pressure pipe with a continuous thermoplastic liner, one or more reinforcement layers and a thermoplastic outer jacket. The liner contains the medium, the reinforcement carries hoop and axial loads, and the jacket protects the reinforcement from abrasion, moisture and external damage.
A thermoplastic layer selected for the fluid, temperature and pressure duty. It provides the primary fluid barrier and a smooth bore.
Glass fibre, aramid, polyester or steel strip can be applied in a balanced helical pattern. The layer count and angle follow the pipe design.
A thermoplastic jacket encapsulates the reinforcement and helps protect the pipe during handling, installation and service.
Important distinction: RTP is not the same as GRP/FRP pipe. RTP uses thermoplastic materials and spoolable construction; GRP/FRP is normally thermoset and rigid. The production line and qualification requirements are different.
Where RTP pipe is used
RTP is selected where corrosion resistance, long continuous lengths and fast installation matter. Final suitability always depends on the liner material, reinforcement system, pressure class, temperature and the applicable project specification.
Production route
BENK equipment modules
A complete RTP line is built from modules that must match each other in speed, tension, temperature and control. Explore the main equipment groups below.
RTP Pipe Production Line
Turnkey line architecture from liner to coiled pipe.
Reinforcement Winding Machine
Balanced helical winding with closed-loop tension control.
Heating & Jacket Extrusion
Controlled heating, activation and outer layer application.
Pipe Coiling Machine
Stable coil geometry and controlled pipe tension.
Automation & Quality Control
Line synchronization, recipes, data logging and inspection.
What we need to size the line
- Pipe inside diameter and outside diameter range
- Design pressure and safety factor
- Operating temperature and fluid
- Liner, reinforcement and jacket materials
- Reinforcement layer count and tape width
- Target output and line speed
- Coil inner diameter, width and weight
- Available workshop length and power supply
- Required inspection and traceability scope
- Jointing or fitting system used downstream
- Applicable pipe qualification standard
- Required commissioning and training support
Scope note: BENK supplies production equipment. Final pipe design, fitting qualification and project certification remain the responsibility of the pipe manufacturer and the project owner. Performance figures are confirmed in the technical proposal.
