What is an HDPE Extruder machine?

When purchasing an extruder, it’s essential to consider its L/D ratio, which is stated as 25:1 or 20:1. It’s the ratio of the flighted length of the screw to the nominal diameter of the screw. An extruder with a longer screw L/D ratio, for instance,30:1 or 34:1 has a higher output, and since the longer length increases the residence time of the melt, it has a higher degree of homogenization.

Is there any difference between a normal-speed and high-speed HDPE extruder?

A high-speed HDPE extruder, first, has a higher production capacity. Second, the high-speed extruder is more expensive, because its components including the gearbox, motor, screw, are of higher-quality. There is also a need to protect the extruder from overheating and ensure stable operation. From our experience, we have discovered companies in more established markets favor high-speed extruders. Companies still operating in markets without high demand opt for normal-speed extruders. The speed of the extruder also influences the design of other downstream equipment.

Is the HDPE extruder single screw or double screw?

Single screw extruders, particularly the SJ series, are preferred for HDPE extrusion. Our SJ series extruders have a capability of 150kg/h to 1500kg/h. You can use this table as a reference.
